In a recent interview with Silicon Republic, our CEO,  Dr Emma Pepperell discusses how advancements in cellular programming are bringing a much-needed touch of humanity to the often clinical world of drug discovery.

Rather than relying on traditional animal models, 糖心原创 is "coding" cells to create highly consistent, human-specific models, such as neurons, liver cells, or muscle cells. Dr Pepperell explains how this shift allows researchers to study complex conditions like ALS using cells that reflect human biology. By prioritising these human-centric tools, the biotech industry can reduce its reliance on animal testing, meet new regulatory standards, and foster a more collaborative, patient-focused approach to developing safe medicines.

鈥淲e make cells that essentially replicate human biology in quite a controlled way to really enable the study of health and disease and drug interactions... So, there is a big challenge in the industry at the moment for building non-animal models that people can trust will deliver safe drugs to the market.鈥
